How I Whiten My Teeth Professionally, Safely, & From Home

Good morning, y’all! We are safely back to on the beach which was SUPER fun, but I don’t even want to admit how much tea I drank while I was there (and we all know how I feel about Vanilla Coke lol). The product that’s been saving my smile is the  Smile Brilliant teeth whitening system!

Smile Brilliant is so easy to use and can be worn from 45 minutes to three hours per use, depending on how sensitive your teeth are! If you DO happen to have sensitive teeth, Smile Brilliant has a special kit to help you too! I ended up using a “sensitive” teeth whitening kit because I’ve had a lot of drug store teeth whitening products strip my teeth in the past. 😦

Once you purchase the kit that fits your needs, you’ll have to make impressions of your teeth using a catalyst paste that comes in your kit. The whole process feels kind of weird but it takes about 10 minutes and once you mail in your impressions you’ll receive your whitening trays within 3-5 business days! After that you’ll open up a syringe of whitening gel and squirt about a third into your tray. Pop that puppy in your mouth and you’re good to go for the next couple of hours!

If you’re as excited about whitening your teeth at home as I am and can’t wait to get your hands on Smile Brilliant, then boy do I have a surprise for you! I’ve teamed up with Smile Brilliant to give one lucky friend their very own teeth whitening kit to try out – for free! All you have to do is click the link below to enter:

What I Keep in My Wristlet

Now that Braxton is a toddler I don’t need to pack as much for a trip to the store as I used to. Back in his younger days I was all about huge bags and backpacks, but for now I’m relieved that I can get away with carrying a wristlet!

I had never actually owned a wristlet before Braxton was born, so I wasn’t really sure what to keep in it at first (there’s seriously not a lot of space to work with). And while right now I have three and they’re all different sizes, I try to pack the same essentials in each one of them.

1.) The obvious – Cash, Cards, Drivers license.

2.) A hair elastic and some hair pins. I wear my hair down every single day but when I’m at work or if it’s super hot outside, I like to have options!

3.) Pain reliever!! I suffer from chronic migraines so I can’t leave the house without this one.

4.) A small pocketknife. I haven’t had to use this for anything yet but I’m sure it could come in handy in all kinds of different situations. 🙂

5.) Chapstick / Lip Moisturizer. If you read my latest review you know that I suffer from extremely dry skin all year round. If I don’t have chapstick with me at all times my lips burn!

What are some of the essentials that you would keep in your wristlet? I’d love to hear some of your ideas! ❤️

Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel Review

This past Wednesday I went to Sephora on a mission to get a full coverage foundation sample (I almost always get “samples to go” as opposed to just testing the product out in store because that way I can see how it wears in different lighting and through my normal every day life). I ended up leaving Sephora with not one, but THREE skincare samples…. and no foundation LOL! One product that I have been blown away by is the FirmX Peeling Gel by Peter Thomas Roth – the makeup artist who was helping me navigate through all of the moisturizer options had me put a dollop of this stuff on my hand. I’m rubbing it in, rubbing it in, and little white balls started to appear on the back of my hand within seconds! IT WAS ALL OF MY DEAD SKIN CELLS COMING RIGHT OFF – ew!

I didn’t even have to ask for a sample of this one, she just packed it right up! I suffer from dry skin all year round so I think this was an obvious life saver for me. 🙂 I went home and used this product all over my face after washing and drying. One thing I never realized about letting dead skin cells build up on your skin is that when you moisturize, the dead skin cells act as a barrier and the product can’t get through to the skin underneath. I’ve only used this peeling gel twice so far (always before using a serum and a moisturizer) and my skin is already feeling so much softer and looking a lot healthier! The best part about this product is that it is suitable for all skin types – normal, oily, combo, or if you’re like me, dry and sensitive. 🙂

PTR FirmX Peeling Gel

The FirmX Peeling Gel comes in two sizes – one is 3.4 oz and the other is 6.8 oz (which can only be purchased online). While Peter Thomas Roth’s products tend to be on the pricier side, I would definitely consider this to be a worthy investment. But let’s face it – when ISN’T your skin a worthy investment? 🙂

My Latest Designer Purchase

Okay gals, I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to share a recent purchase with everyone! I usually tell you guys all about what I buy on Poshmark but today I’m sharing a high end designer purchase from Clothes Mentor. First of all let me just say that these were my size…. so it was meant to be, right? I’ll keep telling myself that, anyway. 😉 My latest designer purchase is this pair of Chanel leather boots! They have a gold trim on the toe and Chanel’s signature gold CC Logo on the back. The day after I purchased these, I wore them on a shopping trip to Saks Fifth Avenue and to Nordstrom. I got soooooooo many compliments, one lady even gave me some free Chanel perfume samples because my boots were “cool” lol! Right now I’m patiently waiting for fall to get here so I can wear these with leggings, an oversized sweater, and a scarf. 😉

Dressing Up Distressed Jeans

Happy Wednesday – we’re already halfway through the week and July is flying on by! You might remember from one of my previous posts that I mentioned I hate wearing shorts, which I’m getting better about but is still true. Besides denim capris, distressed jeans of any length have been my best friends this summer! I’ve found distressed denim to be a little bit tricky to style – if they’re TOO ripped then you end up looking like a 2010 junior high school girl styled you, and if you wear them with flip flops and a plain tee the whole outfit comes across as casual (which can be totally fine!). But for those who would like to look a little more put together while wearing distressed jeans, I have just the outfit for you!

distresseddenim Top: Zara {wearing size small} | Jeans: {old} Look-Alikes: Aeropostale | Booties: {old} Look-Alikes: Lucky Brand

Right now I am absolutely obsessed with this top – it’s an older one from Zara, but I know that Tradesy has sold several and you can find them on Poshmark as well. I love the way this top has such a simple cut at the top and then the bottom is asymmetrical and has ruffles. Two of my favorite things! 🙂 The Aeropostale jeans I’m wearing are older as well but I found a similar pair from the same brand and right now their jeans are on sale!

I hope you’re enjoying these types of “outfit idea” posts. I am doing my best to link everything I share on here so it’s easy to shop, and if I can’t find the exact item I will link a similar one like I did in the photo above!

The Perfect Outfit To Wear When It’s 100 Degrees

Lately temperatures have been in the upper 90s (it was up to 100 on the 1st of July!) and the humidity always works such wonders on my hair, LOL! Since it isn’t socially acceptable to run errands in your bikini, I thought I’d share an outfit idea for those days that are almost too hot to operate! I’ve been wearing this outfit everywhere lately because it’s breathable and lightweight without being too thin! The ruffles and gingham still make me look put together and stylish even if I feel like a sweaty mess! 😉

{Side Note – I would recommend going up a size in the top / shorts set! I went with a size 2.}

My Best Kept Summer Hair Secret

The worst thing about summer is struggling to style and control frizzy hair. My locks are on the thinner side but at the first sign of humidity, it seems that every strand of hair on my head curls right up. I’ve been tackling this issue “head on” this month by using the new Blowdry Glotion by Biolage.

This longwear conditioning heat lotion shapes AND reshapes while protecting hair from temperatures up to 450 degrees. All I have to do is apply a small amount to towel dried hair and then style with heat tools as usual. I finish off my every day straight hair with my beloved CHI Rose Vogue flat iron; the combination makes my hair shinier and softer than it has ever been in my life!

My Top 3 Denim Shorts For Summer (Adorable & Affordable)

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I hardly EVER wear shorts out in public, even if it’s super hot. I’m stuck at that height where shorts at a modest length make my leg look even shorter and chubbier than it really is, but I’m not at all comfortable with my shorts hem grazing my buttcheek either! I’ve come up with a list of three denim shorts that I’ve been loving and wearing this summer (and AGAIN – they’re all under $110!).

____________________________________________________________________________________________

1.) Wal-Mart has EVERYTHING, including some of the most comfortable shorts! These are pretty thin but they keep you cool without showing off too much. I love the elastic waist band – it feels like you’re wearing pajamas but no one will no that but you! 😉 These are the lounge shorts and they’re made by Levi Strauss (same quality, cheaper price tag!)

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

One Teaspoon has my all time favorite denim shorts. I love the dramatic raw hem on the Blue Society Bonita Low Waist Denim Short because they give the illusion of a longer hem. The shorts are a little longer in the back than they are in the front, so you don’t have to worry about your bum hanging out all day either. These are the shorts I was wearing in my latest Instagram post at the beach… One Teaspoon always runs big so make sure you read the size chart on their website before purchasing (I had to go down TWO sizes and went with a Size 23.)

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

I’m obsessed with the the color of these High Rise Denim Shorts from J Crew. It’s called the “Brixton wash” and I feel like it’s the perfect middle ground between being too light and too dark. I HATE shorts that have a light wash because they stain so easily! My favorite thing about this pair of shorts is that the rolled hem is short AND modest. Why can’t all shorts be this nice to me??

My Favorite Tops For Summer ($110 and Under!)

As soon as it gets hot outside I start struggling to come up with outfits that I would deem “cute”. I throw on a plain tank top and shorts and out the door I go! My goal this summer is to break that habit by staying cool AND stylish. Here are my top 5 T-shirt and tank top picks – and they’re all under $110!

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

1.) I love the simplicity of this Lace Cap Sleeve Tee from Loft. You could knot it at the bottom or just leave it hanging straight and you could ALSO wear this casually or dress it up! It really is a versatile piece and the lace sleeves are so romantic.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

2.) I’m obsessed with the powder blue color of this Lace Button-Back Top from Banana Republic. I love an elbow length sleeve because it makes my small arms look a lot more flattering than a shorter sleeve. This top also comes in a pretty wide range of sizes, starting at XXS (which isn’t always easy to find).

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

3.) I am really loving lighter yellow colors this season, and of course it’s better when it’s in lace. I love the higher neckline on this Victoria Blouse from Anthropologie and the way the lace on the shoulder gives the illusion of a dainty cap sleeve.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

4.) Marc Jacobs is the perfect place to find sassy but simple tees. The Marc Jacobs Reverse Graphic Tee is extremely comfortable and very high quality, which is why this brand is one of my faves. I love a good crop as long as it’s covering my belly button so this top is perfect and it gives an illusion of a smaller waist. If you want a little more coverage, just go a size up! 🙂

____________________________________________________________________________________________

5.) This Floral-Embroidered Top is sheer and soooo cool! It’s really lightweight without the material being too fragile. My favorite part about this is the floral appliqués on the sleeves – they’re just so girly and dainty!

My Latest Poshmark Purchase: Christian Dior Ballet Flats

I’m not much of a “flats” kind of girl – I either wear sneakers or heels and nothing in between, although occasionally I’ll throw on a pair of Crocs to run outside real quick. On top of that, Alex HATES flats. He thinks they look “so ugly”. I just think they make my feet look larger than they really are. With all that being said, the one pair of flats I did own were from Wal-Mart and have seen a couple of good walks lately so I guess I have to admit it. THEY’RE GROWING ON ME! Flats are actually so comfortable to walk around in and they keep your feet a lot cooler in the warm weather, too. I decided to shop around for another pair of flats and of course I wanted high quality without a high price tag, so I found this pair on Poshmark.

These Christian Dior ballet flats are what I’d call “aging” – they were manufactured in 2007 so I’m not quite sure I’m ready to say they’re vintage, lol! I don’t know how much they retail for but I purchased these for only $30. The raspberry color is SO me but I don’t have a lot to pair them with yet. Something I didn’t even realize until they arrived at my house is that the monogram Dior logo is all throughout the fabric of the shoe. They’re sooo cute!
